Tannu Tuva and its Philatelic History

Tannu Tuva is an amazing region that hides itself between two mountain ranges on the edge of Siberia. Specifically it is a 170,000 sq. km region between modern Mongolia and the former USSR. Legend has it when the Russians were negotiating the border treaty with the Chinese in the 18th century, both sides used "THE" mountain range as the border in this region, neither side realizing here were two ranges and this fertile land hiding in their embrace.

So why am I interested in Tuva? Lots of reasons... but if you're reading this you probably have your own reasons, so lets get on with the show. If you aren't versed in Tuvan history, here's the thumbnail history of Tuva before the first stamp.
